Fundraising involves more than just asking for donations. The cost of acquiring new donors often surpasses the cost of retaining existing ones, thus making donor retention crucial. Great question! Not only do I bring honesty and transparency to the table, but I also have extensive experience in development and genuinely enjoy my work. Being the bridge connecting a donor to a worthy cause or the "broker of joy," as some may call it, is rewarding. I aim to share this philosophy and skillset with organizations to foster joy for their donors and their mission, and to contribute to a better world.
But, what exactly are your qualifications?
I've been an integral part of small and large nonprofits' development teams, contributing to the arts & culture, journalism, and health & human services sectors for nearly two decades. My experience includes serving on grant panels, obtaining grant and nonprofit management certifications, and serving as a board member (currently Secretary) of the Association for Fundraising Professionals - Northern New England Chapter. As a co-chair of the AFP-NNE conference committee for seven years, I've attended countless conferences and sessions, gaining exposure to industry best practices and networking with top professionals. My fundraising journey began at six as a Girl Scout and has since shaped my career. It's a passion as well as a forte—a combination you'll appreciate when working with a professional.
So, will you directly ask people for donations?
No, but I will provide you with the skillset and strategies to do so effectively. My role involves setting up a development plan and strategy, ensuring a successful and sustainable fundraising future for your organization. While I won't personally solicit donations, I could accompany you during such activities if needed.
Can we expect a sudden rise in revenue after hiring you?
That'd be great, wouldn't it? However, effective practices require time to implement and produce significant results. While we can make informed projections, it's unrealistic to expect an immediate or dramatic increase in budget revenue within the first six months. Our focus is to lay a solid foundation that will drive future growth.
Do you write grants?
Absolutely! I have a particular fondness for grant writing. However, I draw the line at government grants.
